To go on my blogs shortly:
An Open Letter to Greg Abbott, Ken Paxton and Myriad Others,
For the second time within a week, the United States Supreme Court has ruled on matters that you have strongly opposed. The first ruling was the declaration the Affordable Care Act was constitutional. Today, a majority of the justices ruled that the equal protection provisions of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution applied to everyone.
In your opposition to both of these measures, you have fomented hatred and lies, reflecting an indecency of human spirit and a hypocritical repudiation of the true message of Jesus Christ — a message which you try to convince us you so fervently embrace. Looking at your rhetoric, you fail.
But, here is the real message of Jesus, reflected accurately in the hashtag: #lovewins.
As a citizen, voter and taxpayer in Texas, I would also remind you that you are bound by your oath “to the best of my ability preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States and of this State, so help me God.”
That means, Paxton, your admonition to the county clerks, as reported in the Texas Tribune, is a direct violation of your oath of office. As it now stands, your instructions to “hold off” issuing licenses for same-sex couples is an obvious, callous and premeditated obstruction of justice. It is justification of impeachment and removal from office.
I have reached my limit in my attempts to have a civil tongue with you. Without resorting to the crude and vulgar language I would like to use, I instead make note that I did not and will not address either of you by your titles. You are not worthy.
#lovewins
